In this course I expect to get prepared for the act's again. I expect to learn more about composition and literature. I expect to gain knowledge on writing essays and papers for college. I also expect to get prepared for English in college and the formats they use. I think that I will learn more about why people write and what they write about.
The skills I want to learn from this course is how to write a well formed paper. I have yet to learn the tricks to making my paragraphs flow. What I want out of this class is to be able to write a great paper with not much effort. I also want to learn more about literature and what inspires people to write such great pieces of art. I want to be able to test into college level English!
English has always been fun for me, unlike math, In English there is no right and wrong answer, you can have an opinion, where unlike math, there is always a certain answer you are looking for. I like the freedom to think about what your reading and having an opinion and ideas about it. I love to read, and write; I hope to get much better though. I still forget things such as where to put a comma or apostrophe. I would love to review these things. I think my strengths are that I enjoy reading and writing so that helps me move forward.
My weakness's are basic English grammar, simple sentence formations, and writing papers. I hope to learn how to do all of these things well after this semester so I will be prepared for college. Another weakness is that this class is on the computer so I'm not with the teacher every day to discuss these that I might need help with. I need help and I usually have many questions. I can call or email Ms. Larrenaga If I need help though.

So my assertion is that you have the thoughts... you have the creativity.... you need to improve on word choice, sentence structure and most importantly.... organization. One of the things you need to do to improve these areas is to start reading like a writer. I know that with I Read you have been interacting with many authors. I want you from this point on to really be aware and think while reading...ask questions like "why did the author do this?" How did the author convey the character was mean spirited? How did the author keep the time line solid and easy to understand? I want you to take your This I Believe essay and as an activity create an outline. Intro -- thesis supporting sentences, Paragraph 2 reason why I believe and 4-5 supporting details ect...... Call if you have questions or come see me on Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI need to learn how to work the pargraph's fluidity also. Many people tell me I write with my thoughts and not with my head, so I'm working on it.
